The Rolling Stones have announced their upcoming 24th studio album, ‘Hackney Diamonds’. Surviving members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood recently discussed the release with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, where they premiered the lead single ‘Angry’.
The album will include two tracks recorded with late drummer Charlie Watts, as revealed by Jagger during the show. Richards additionally noted that Watts had recommended Steve Jordan as a potential replacement for himself, and Jordan ended up joining the band. The two tracks will be back-to-back midway through the record, titled ‘Live By The Sword’ and ‘Mess It Up’.
In addition, Bill Wyman will feature on one of the tracks, bringing the group’s original rhythm section back together. The album was recorded across multiple locations including Henson Recording Studios, Los Angeles, London’s Metropolis Studios, Sanctuary Studios in the Bahamas, Electric Lady Studios and The Hit Factory/Germano Studios, in New York.
The Rolling Stones’ ‘Hackney Diamonds’ is set to be released on October 20, and the new single ‘Angry’ is available now, featuring Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney. Fans can access a snippet of the song on the website dontgetangrywithme.com. These recent announcements follow a cryptic advert in a local newspaper, and an augmented reality video clip and website. It will be the band’s first release of original music since 2005’s ‘A Bigger Bang’.
