Miley Cyrus has opened up about her personal experience with the 2018 Woolsey fire that destroyed her home in Malibu. In her new TikTok series, Used To Be Young, the pop star recounted her traumatic experience and how it affected her life later on.
Cyrus recalled how her house in Malibu was burned down while she was filming the fifth season of the popular show Black Mirror in South Africa. She explained that the incident triggered anxiety attacks wherein she would have a vision of being strapped down to a gurney.
The Woolsey fire killed three people and destroyed over 1,600 structures in Los Angeles and Ventura County. Despite the tragic event, Miley Cyrus called herself “one of the lucky ones” for having her animals and partner, Liam Hemsworth, make it out safely.
The episode of Black Mirror that Cyrus starred in, Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too, was released shortly after the Woolsey fire. Cyrus described how she had to put her emotions aside and press on with the show.
The sixth season of Black Mirror was released in June and featured a cast of Hollywood stars including Aaron Paul, Salma Hayek, Josh Hartnett, and Zazie Beetz. Fans of the show can look forward to more suspenseful storylines and twisted endings in the new season.
