Róisín Murphy Sets the Record Straight on ‘Hit Parade’ Controversy and Donations to Pro-Trans Charities

Róisín Murphy has addressed the controversy surrounding her recently released album ‘Hit Parade’ and clarified reports that its proceeds would be donated to pro-trans charities.

The singer-songwriter’s new record was met with criticism last week after a comment on her personal Facebook page seemed to criticize the use of puberty blockers for transgender and gender-diverse youth. Murphy quickly released a statement, acknowledging her mistake and pledging to “bow out of this conversation within the public domain.”

Following her comments, rumors began to circulate that her label, Ninja Tune, were intending to donate the proceeds from ‘Hit Parade’ to trans-supporting charities. However, Murphy has since taken to Twitter to confirm that this is not the case.

“Well, those reports were unconfirmed by the label,” she wrote. “They have made no official statement whatsoever and they are not intending to donate proceeds from the record to charity. I checked!”

Murphy has long been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, and the controversy surrounding her latest album has raised important questions about her commitment to the cause. Nevertheless, many of her fans remain supportive and continue to express their admiration for her and her music.
