Kylie Minogue is making a comeback with her new album ‘Tension’ and is pushing back against ageism. The 55-year-old pop star is refusing to compromise her style and image and is instead embracing her own confidence and empowerment.
In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, Minogue said, “It’s not about being sexy, it’s about being yourself. I don’t even call it sexy as even that feels passe. I am happy there is a strength in inhabiting your own playfulness, your own confidence and empowerment.”
Minogue believes that ageism will soon become a thing of the past due to the younger generations’ open-mindedness. “I think younger generations are so open-minded they are not bothered about it. Soon ageism will be so uncool you just won’t do it. Just let that person live and breathe in their space,” she said.
Her latest album ‘Tension’ has been praised by fans and critics alike with NME rating it four stars and describing it as “up there with her best”. Minogue is now set to perform the tracks from her album at her first-ever Las Vegas residency at the Venetian hotel’s new 1000-capacity, cabaret-style nightclub, Voltaire, starting November 4. Tickets are still available for the three-month residency and fans can expect to hear her greatest hits such as ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’, ‘Spinning Around’ and ‘Better The Devil You Know’.
