Noel Gallagher Blasts Premier League VAR System and PGMOL Chief Howard Webb

Noel Gallagher has recently lambasted the Premier League for its use of video assisted refereeing (VAR) and has declared Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) chief Howard Webb to be “disastrous”. The Manchester City fan expressed his displeasure following his team’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal over the weekend.

Gallagher assumed the role of pundit when discussing Tottenham’s 2-1 win against Liverpool last week, which was marred by an incorrect VAR ruling leading to Luis Diaz being wrongly ruled offside. PGMOL subsequently apologized to Liverpool and released an audio file to provide more insight into the blunder.

The Oasis singer was critical of Webb’s role, claiming that since his appointment, things have been “nothing short of an absolute disaster”. He also bemoaned the lack of fan enthusiasm caused by VAR and why the Premier League refuses to adopt the Champions League’s system, which Gallagher believes is “really definitive and fan friendly”. He jokingly remarked that the only good thing about the error was that it happened to Liverpool.

In other news, Oasis have recently topped a chart released by the BBC, ranking the most streamed albums from the ’90s. The chart, compiled by the Official Charts Company, was created to celebrate National Album Day next week (October 14). It will air on BBC Radio 2 between 1-3pm on October 14.

The band’s albums ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’, ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘Be Here Now’ respectively took the first, second and eighteenth slots on the list. Oasis’ rivals of the ’90s Britpop era, Blur, however, failed to make the top twenty.
