Ahead of the highly anticipated kickoff of her 40th anniversary ‘Celebration’ tour, Madonna has teased fans with a look at the impressive feat she’s put together for the shows.
The Queen of Pop is set to make a grand entrance at London’s O2 arena this Saturday, October 14, where she’ll perform a total of six concerts. This comes after Madonna’s health scare earlier this year, which saw her hospitalized with a serious bacterial infection and forced her to postpone the North American leg of the tour.
The iconic singer has now revealed some of the numbers behind her tour, which marks her 13th culture-shifting tour and includes 78 shows across 15 countries. Fans can expect to hear an expansive setlist of hits from her four decades in the spotlight, along with 17 archived costumes recreated for the stage.
The stage itself is a three-layered circular design, inspired by Madonna’s original VMA performance and her ‘Like A Virgin’ wedding cake. Joining her on stage are four of her children, 24 performers, and a reunion with musician and DJ Stuart Price.
Madonna will be lifted 30 feet off the ground in an illuminated portal frame, which acts like a time machine and moves her 105 feet into the venue. 3600 sq. ft. of projection imagery will be used, the most ever for a Madonna show. Fans can also expect a 230-foot catwalk and a ‘queen-sized’ Madonna flag outside The O2.
Additionally, the singer has brought along eight humidifiers, three physical therapists, three mobile gyms, and 40 pairs of boxing gloves. Over 200 crew members will help get the show off the ground, with 80 tonnes of production equipment, 3700 amps of show power, and 600 lights to illuminate the stage.
Fifty different merch items will be available for fans, including vintage recreations of items from previous tours.
Don’t miss Madonna’s historic ‘Celebration’ tour, with tickets still available for select dates.
