Jonathan Majors’ Domestic Abuse Charges Denied as Disney Pulls Film from Release Calendar

Jonathan Majors is set to stand trial after a New York judge denied a motion to dismiss his domestic abuse charges. The actor was arrested in March for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Majors has denied all of the accusations, and his criminal defence lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, has stated that evidence was presented to prove the woman was the one who attacked Majors. He has plead not guilty to the charges.

On Wednesday, Majors appeared via video in court due to being out of state. His lawyers requested that any evidence containing sensitive information remain sealed in order to protect his right to a fair trial. Later that same day, Jabbari was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanour assault and misdemeanour criminal mischief. The Manhattan district attorney’s office then declined to prosecute her case.

Disney has removed Magazine Dreams, a drama starring Majors, from its release calendar due to the upcoming trial. Majors recently returned to Marvel TV series Loki as Victor Timely, a 19th century inventor, although Kevin Wright, the show’s producer, has stated the episodes were completed prior to the allegations being made. Wright refused to comment on Majors’ continued involvement in the series beyond season two, citing potential spoilers.

Majors made his Marvel debut in Loki in 2021 as He Who Remains, a variant of the powerful Kang The Conqueror. He Who Remains was killed at the end of season one, but Majors returned in season two’s third episode to play Victor Timely, another variation of Kang The Conqueror. The actor is also set to appear in the upcoming film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
