Blink 182 pulled off a massive surprise this week (October 26th) when they played a show at an unlikely destination: a Denny’s in Long Island, California. The crowd at the 24-hour diner was packed and enthusiastic as the band performed their hit song ‘Anthem Part 3’ from their recently released ninth album ‘One More Time…’.
This show was a nod to the well-known meme of the Houston metalcore band Live Without performing at the same venue. Mark Hoppus, bassist for Blink 182, began the show by quoting the Live Without frontman, “What the fuck is up, Denny’s!”
The release of ‘One More Time…’ marks the reunion of Blink 182 with singer Tom DeLonge, who left the band in 2015. In addition to the album, the band has recently released two bonus songs, ‘See You’ and ‘Cut Me Off’, which are only available on the digital version of the record.
Blink 182 recently wrapped up a tour for their reunion, playing shows in the US, Canada, Europe, and the UK. The band played a show at The O2 in London which NME praised as “a tight, endlessly fun comeback offering a well-needed moment of respite in a rather gloomy climate.” At their show in Manchester, drummer Travis Barker suffered a hand injury from a previous episode of severe nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia).
The band has announced a North American tour for 2024, as well as rescheduled shows in Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin for next summer. Fans of Blink 182 can expect the same energy and enthusiasm that was felt at their surprise show at Denny’s.
