Country music star Dolly Parton has revealed that she has been asked to play the Super Bowl Halftime Show “many times” but declined to accept the offer. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the singer shared that she was nervous about taking on the challenge due to the magnitude of the production. Parton noted that she may be ready to accept such offers in the future, noting her upcoming album ‘Rockstar’ and her collaboration with goddaughter Miley Cyrus on a new version of ‘Wrecking Ball’.
Parton’s latest album ‘Run, Rose, Run’ was released in 2022 to three-star reviews from Nick Levine of NME. Levine praised the record for its charm and noted that it confirmed what fans already knew: even a middle-of-the-road Dolly Parton album has lashings of charm.
This year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show was a huge success, with Rihanna’s performance becoming the most-watched halftime show of all time with over 120 million views. It overtook Katy Perry’s 2015 performance. Usher is set to take the stage in 2024.
