The Libertines have recently released the visuals for their single ‘Run, Run, Run’. The creative video follows a seedy cab driver, played by His Dark Materials actor Geoff Bell, as he takes his passengers around the various locations of Margate. Directed by Alex Brown, who has worked with James Blake and La Roux, the video was shot in Cliftonville, Margate and at The Albion Rooms.
The single was released last month and according to lead singer Carl Barat, it’s somewhat “self-referential” and reflects the band’s current state of being. Barat further adds that the song is a mixture of both hope and fear and the band is perpetually hopeful and afraid.
The upcoming LP, ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’, is set to be released on March 8, 2024. The title of the album is a tribute to the band’s hotel, studio, restaurant and bar in Margate, which is also featured on the sleeve with an array of characters from the world of faded seaside glamour.
Produced by Dimitri Tikovoï, Dan Grech-Marguerat and recorded at The Albion Rooms and La Ferme de Gestein Studios in Normandy, the album consists of 11 new tracks with songwriting credits shared among the four members of the band.
Fans can pre-order the album now to get an early listen. With the visuals for ‘Run, Run, Run’ and the upcoming album, The Libertines are sure to bring a refreshing wave of indie-rock to the music scene.
