Slipknot have made a creative decision to part ways with drummer Jay Weinberg after ten years of dedication and passion. The Iowa band’s statement thanked Weinberg for his contributions to the last three albums and expressed excitement for the future. Weinberg joined Slipknot prior to the release of their 2014 album ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’, replacing original drummer Joey Jordison who left in 2013 and later passed away in 2021.
In 2020, Weinberg discussed the challenges of joining Slipknot, noting that he is constantly learning more and the band is growing closer to unlocking their potential. The band have seen a number of personnel changes in recent years, including when Michael Pfaff replaced percussionist Chris Fehn and bassist Alessandro Venturella replaced Paul Gray, who died in 2010.
Slipknot’s last album was 2022’s ‘The End, So Far’. NME praised the album, noting that the band’s next era could be their most daring yet. In June, Slipknot also surprise-released an EP titled ‘Adderall’.
As Slipknot are intent on evolving, the band has made the decision to part ways with Weinberg. Fans and the band alike wish him the best for the future. Slipknot’s next move is yet to be seen, but the anticipation is high.
