Jack Antonoff has opened up about his and Taylor Swift’s favorite song on her latest record, ‘Lover’. The Bleachers frontman recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss ‘Cruel Summer’, the track that topped the Billboard Hot 100 last month, and the recording process of the album.
Antonoff, who has been a long-time collaborator of Swift’s since the release of ‘1989’, revealed that ‘Cruel Summer’ was always their favorite song on the record. “The idea of a single is just, what’s the song that if you could get your friends in the room, you’d play?” the Grammy-winning producer said. “And what happened with ‘Cruel Summer’ is a testament to that. It was always our favorite song on the album.”
The music producer also joined Swift on social media to thank fans for making ‘Cruel Summer’ a number one hit on the Hot 100 chart. “We just wanted to say thank you so much for making ‘Cruel Summer’ a Hot 100 No. 1, and it’s not even summer anymore,” Swift said. “It’s deep fall, I’m wearing a sweater.”
Antonoff and Swift have remained close friends through the years. Antonoff recently told Sunday Today that the singer “put an amazing amount of belief in me”, to which Swift replied, “We will continue working together til 2089”. She also jokingly remarked, “How can he be 6 years older than me and also somehow still be my precocious young son? We may never know.”
