Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty Donating Funds to Gaza Humanitarian Crisis

Selena Gomez has announced that her makeup brand Rare Beauty will be donating funds to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The brand shared an Instagram post on Monday (November 6th) which included a photo of a burgundy screen with “Humanitarian crisis in Gaza” written in the center. The caption expressed their heartbreak over the recent events and condemned the Hamas attack at the Nova Music Festival which claimed the lives of at least 260 people.

Rare Beauty’s post stated that they are against all forms of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, and that they plan to donate to the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society to help those affected by the conflict. In addition, they will donate to UNICEF to help get medical relief and resources to the children of Gaza.

Selena Gomez shared her own Instagram post on October 31st, stating that she would be “taking a break from social media” due to the “horror, hate, violence and terror” happening. She expressed her sadness over the situation and her wish to be able to change the world with her words.

Many other celebrities have also spoken out about the conflict in Gaza. Macklemore delivered a speech at a pro-Palestine rally, Dua Lipa and Michael Stipe wrote an open letter to President Biden, and Gigi Hadid shared a graphic to her Instagram Story. Kid Cudi, Zack de la Rocha, and Rage Against The Machine have also recently voiced their support for Palestinians. On the other side, figures like Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, Mayim Bialik, and Gal Gadot have signed an open letter voicing their support for Israel.

The death toll in Palestine has now surpassed 10,000 people, and 1,400 in Israel. Rare Beauty also shared mental health resources in their post, in case anyone has been affected by the conflict.
