Dua Lipa Unveils ‘Houdini’ – The Start of a New Era For The Pop Star

Dua Lipa has released her highly anticipated single ‘Houdini’, signalling the start of a brand new era for the pop star. Written by Lipa, Caroline Ailin, Danny L. Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and produced by Parker and Hale, the track is a perfect introduction to her upcoming album.

The upbeat pop track is a tongue-in-cheek exploration of the singer’s newfound single life, and the accompanying video sees her post-rehearsal in a dance hall, revising her choreography under fluorescent lights. Directed by Manu Cossu and cinematographer André Chemetoff, the visuals add a whole new level of energy to the track.

Speaking of the song, Lipa said: “This track represents the most light and freeing parts of my singledom. You never know where something may take you, that’s the beauty of being open to whatever life throws your way.”

The upcoming album follows her widely acclaimed 2020 release ‘Future Nostalgia’. The album was so successful that it earned a five-star review from music critics, who praised Lipa’s ‘bright, bold collection of pop majesty’ and the fact that it gave listeners a chance to ‘dance away their anxieties’.

Earlier this week, Lipa surprised her fans by playing the track from her phone in the streets of London, joined by a small crew of dancers and a mirrorball. Lipa previously teased the release of new music with a pair of teasers, and recently acquired the rights to her catalogue of songs in a deal with her previous publishers, TAP Music.

With ‘Houdini’ marking the start of a new era of music from the singer, fans are in for a treat with the release of her upcoming album.
