Nicki Minaj is set to drop her fifth studio album, ‘Pink Friday 2’, next month and the rapper has taken the opportunity to open up about her experiences with mental health, addiction, and social media. In her December issue of Vogue cover story, she discussed her addiction to prescribed Percocet medication, and how social media can create a “false reality” for young people.

Minaj has also spoken out about her beliefs on the COVID-19 vaccine, which prompted backlash from authorities. Speaking about her decision to share her views on social media, she said: “I’m one of those people who doesn’t go with a crowd. I like to make my own assessment of everything without help from everyone.”

Describing what fans can expect from ‘Pink Friday 2’, Minaj said: “Imagine a Nicki Minaj greatest hits album, but all the songs are new. When I look back at a lot of my music, I’m like, Oh, my God, where was the me in it? So for this album, I went back to the old game plan.” The album is set for release on December 8th, which is also Minaj’s birthday.

Prior to the release, Minaj has already dropped two singles, ‘Bahm Bahm’ and ‘FOR ALL THE BARBZ’, featuring Drake and Chief Keef respectively. The rapper also recently won the Best Hip-Hop award for the music video for ‘Super Freaky Girl’ at this year’s MTV VMAs.

Nicki Minaj has consistently used her platform to speak out about relevant issues and her upcoming album ‘Pink Friday 2’ is sure to be a reflection of that.
