Paying Tribute To The Victims of the 2015 Paris Terror Attack: 8 Years Later

On this day, eight years ago, a tragic event occurred in Paris that will forever be remembered. On November 13, 2015, 89 people were killed in a series of terrorist attacks in the French capital, with one of the targets being the Le Bataclan music venue, where the Eagles Of Death Metal were performing.

Since then, both Madonna and the Eagles Of Death Metal have paid tribute to the victims of the attack. At her ‘Celebration’ tour stop in Paris on Monday (November 13), Madonna took a moment to reflect on the tragedy and remember those who lost their lives. During her ‘Rebel Heart’ tour in 2015, Madonna and her son, David Banda, had earlier paid tribute to the victims by visiting Place de la République, the square near Le Bataclan.

Meanwhile, Eagles Of Death Metal shared a clip of the French flag with Ed Harcourt’s cover of their track ‘I Love You All The Time’ to their official Facebook page on the anniversary. Last year, the band’s frontman Jesse Hughes and guitarist Eden Galindo appeared in court to give testimony in Paris in an ongoing civil trial. Hughes described how the attack had permanently affected them as survivors, and Galindo expressed his grief over the loss of the victims, to the point where he left the band for a time.

More recently, Madonna’s stage designer Ric Lipson of architecture firm Stufish told Rolling Stone UK that the icon wanted “feel more connected” to the audience on her current ‘Celebration’ tour. According to Lipson, Madonna wanted to base the show on her early days in New York City, from the early days of landing in Times Square and going down to the Lower East Side, CBGBs and the clubs.

The events of 2015 and the subsequent tributes by Madonna and the Eagles Of Death Metal are sure to never be forgotten.
