Richard Osman, the beloved TV host and author, has recently shared a hilarious story of once being thrown out of legendary musician David Bowie’s private toilet. The incident happened at a music festival in Barcelona, where Osman’s brother, Mat Osman, is the bassist of band Suede.
Osman said he was using the lavatory when he got a knock on the door, and was informed to immediately vacate it due to it being Bowie’s own private facility. He recalled it to be “lovely, carpet on the walls,” and admitted he had to take a few seconds before being able to leave.
The anecdote was shared while Osman was promoting his new book, The Bullet That Missed, which is part of his successful Thursday Murder Club series. In addition, replicas of the snowman scarf Bowie famously wore in the 1982 classic The Snowman are now available for purchase, after his own son, Duncan Jones, had rediscovered the original scarf last year.
Furthermore, Madness recently revealed Bowie had tried to recreate their 1979 hit ‘My Girl’ with his own track ‘Ashes to Ashes’, but was unable to find the right drummer. Dan Woodgate from Madness explained that Bowie had told them he tried to “rip off” their song but couldn’t, and that if he had asked, Woodgate could have assisted him.
Finally, Suede has shared details of a new expanded version of their recent ‘Autofiction’ album, including the release of previously unheard song ‘The Sadness in You, The Sadness in Me’. Bowie fans and music lovers alike can rejoice in the new information and music being released.
