Empire State Bastard Unleash Ferocious New Single ‘Stutter’ Ahead of Debut Album ‘Rivers of Heresy’

Empire State Bastard have announced their new single ‘Stutter’, and it is a blisteringly heavy track that channels inspiration from some of metal’s most iconic bands.

The band is the latest project from Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil and touring guitarist and former Oceansize musician Mike Vennart. Joining them on the project are Slayer and Testament drummer Dave Lombardo and Naomi Macleod of Bitch Falcon on bass.

The four-piece recently embarked on a sold-out headline tour across the UK and have now revealed their new single ‘Stutter’ ahead of their debut album ‘Rivers of Heresy’. Described as “pure sonic annihilation”, the album is due to be released on September 1 and opens with their lead single ‘Harvest’.

In the run up to the release, Empire State Bastard are set to make numerous international festival appearances, including UK sets at Download and ArcTanGent, as well as a slot at Glastonbury. The band are also set to perform at the Earache Takeover, Hellfest and Wacken Open Air, before heading to Riot Fest in Chicago.

Frontman Simon Neil said that he and Vennart were looking to capture “going for extremity at all costs” with the new band, and hoping that the sound they capture would be “extremely weird”.

“We wanted to make the most vile music we possibly could, just unabridged hatred in musical form,” Vennart said. “Lyrically, it’s as misanthropic and nihilistic as I’ve ever written.”

Empire State Bastard’s second single ‘Stutter’ is out now and their debut album ‘Rivers of Heresy’ is due for release on September 1. Pre-orders for the album are available now.
