Sydney punk outfit Fangz have released their new single ‘Let’s Talk’ and an accompanying music video, featuring frontman Josh Cottreau’s attempt to break a world record.
Cottreau bravely gobbled down a total of 143 hard-boiled eggs in just three minutes, unofficially beating the previous Guinness World Records attempt of 141 eggs in eight minutes by Joey Chestnut.
In a statement, Cottreau said of his noteworthy achievement: “We had the idea to try and cement our legacy in the Guinness Book of World Records. We had to choose a record and it took us months to find the correct one. After watching Paul Newman attempting to eat 50 hard-boiled eggs in one sitting, I thought ‘yeah, I could do heaps more’. Fast forward to the present day and I’m now a world record holder.”
The record-breaking attempt is yet to be confirmed by Guinness World Records, however if proven to be a legitimate achievement, Cottreau will have smashed the previous record with two more eggs and in a shorter time period.
Fangz have been on a roll of late, with the release of ‘Let’s Talk’ coming after their single ‘Fine Without You’ in April, and their five-track EP ‘Falling Is Pretty Normal’ in February 2022.
Fans of the punk rockers can catch them live at the Gallery Bar at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on Friday, August 4, and the Last Chance Rock & Roll bar in Melbourne on August 12.
