Queens Of The Stone Age delivered an electrifying performance at Glastonbury 2023 on Sunday, June 25th, closing out the festival’s Other Stage. Frontman Josh Homme gave the crowd a good laugh with his joke about being Elton John, to which the audience responded with cheers of “we love you Elton”.
The band kept the energy going all night long, encouraging the moshing crowd to “fuck shit up together”. Homme dedicated ‘In The Fade’ to the late Mark Lanegan, a grunge icon and former Queens Of The Stone Age musician who passed away last year. The setlist also included popular songs like ‘Go With The Flow’, ‘My God Is The Sun’, and ‘No One Knows’.
The rock band made their Glastonbury debut in 1999 on the Other Stage and returned to the festival in 2002. They are currently on tour for their latest album ‘In Times New Roman’.
Meanwhile, other acts like Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Lil Nas X played at Glastonbury 2023. Stevens paid tribute to George Harrison with a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Here Comes The Sun’. Ellis-Bextor opened the Pyramid Stage but the set was not live-streamed, much to the disappointment of fans. Japanese Breakfast was forced to cancel their 12:30pm set at The Other Stage due to travel delays, and were replaced by Eaves Wilder. Closing out the night, Elton John headlined the Pyramid Stage with his final show in the UK.
