Rod Stewart to Move Away from Rock Music and Focus on Swing Music After Plymouth Concert Cut-Off

Legendary rock star Rod Stewart recently faced backlash from fans after his show was cut short due to a 10:30pm curfew. His performance at Plymouth’s Home Park on June 24 was cut off before the encore of ‘Sailing’, much to the dismay of fans. Cllr Mark Shayer, Lord Mayor of Plymouth, reported receiving numerous phone calls and even being sworn at in his local shop. He was horrified to be implicated in the situation, as his father was a Royal Navy veteran and lines from ‘Sailing’ are quoted on his headstone.

Plymouth City Council has made a statement that they did not ask Stewart to stop the concert, and the Lord Mayor was not even present. This incident happened on the same day that Lana Del Rey’s Glastonbury show was cut short due to a curfew, mid-way through ‘White Mustang’.

Stewart himself has recently spoken with BBC Breakfast, saying he is planning to move away from rock music and focus on swing music. He clarified that he is not retiring from music and is looking forward to releasing a swing album with Jools Holland next year. He stated that he wants to “leave all the rock ‘n’ roll stuff behind – for a while, maybe”.

Fans of the iconic musician are sure to be disappointed by the recent incident, but they can take comfort in the fact that Stewart is not retiring and instead transitioning to a new musical genre.
