Pop icon Madonna is on the road to recovery after being hospitalised due to a bacterial infection last week. Her manager Guy Oseary confirmed in a statement that while Madonna had spent several days in the ICU, she was “expected to make a full recovery”.

Her longtime friend Rosie O’Donnell shared an update on Madonna’s condition, posting two throwback photos from when the two starred in 1992 classic comedy A League of Their Own and also from when they were on the set of O’Donnell’s titular show in the ’90s. O’Donnell’s caption on the posts read: “She is feeling good”. When fans asked for more information, O’Donnell replied that Madonna was “recovering at home” and “very strong in general”.

Madonna’s family had been preparing for the worst in the days leading up to her hospitalisation, and the news of her health scare caused her upcoming ‘Celebration’ world tour to be postponed. As of yet, no new dates have been announced.

The tour was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Madonna’s eponymous 1983 debut album. Before her hospitalisation, Madonna had released a collaboration with Sam Smith called ‘Vulgar’, and there were rumours of a potential collaboration with fellow pop star Kylie Minogue. Madonna is also strongly rumoured to be one of the female headliners for Glastonbury 2024.

The Queen of Pop was discharged from hospital last Thursday (June 29) and is now reported to be recovering at home. We wish her a speedy recovery!
