Canadian indie superstars Metric have just unveiled their highly anticipated follow-up album to their 2022 release, ‘Formentera’. Titled ‘Formentera II’, the record will be released on October 13th via Metric Music International/Thirty Tigers and is available for pre-order now.

The band recently shared the single ‘Just The Once’, the first glimpse of the album. Vocalist Emily Haines described the track as “regret disco”, adding that “it’s a song for when you need to dance yourself clean.” The song is a thoughtful exploration of the word “once”, which can have multiple meanings.

The nine-track album promises to be a journey of ups and downs. Last year’s ‘Formentera’ was praised by critics, including NME who awarded it four stars. Rhian Daly wrote of the album “it feels that the band have accepted life’s up and downs.”

Metric’s track list for ‘Formentera II’ is: ‘Detour Up’, ‘Just The Once’, ‘Stone Window’, ‘Days of Oblivion’, ‘Who Would You Be For Me’, ‘Suckers’, ‘Nothing Is Perfect’, ‘Descendants’, and ‘Go Ahead and Cry’. Fans of the band will be sure to enjoy the new album, and listeners who have yet to discover Metric can use ‘Formentera II’ as an introduction to the band’s unique sound.
