Zayn Malik has recently opened up about his experience as a member of the boyband One Direction and their eventual hiatus in a podcast interview. The singer joined the band during the seventh season of The X Factor and remained in the line-up until 2015.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Malik discussed his time in the band, revealing that the songwriting process was “hard” as all five members had to be on the same page. He also talked about his decision to leave the group after five years, saying that there were complications around contracts and “underlying issues” between the members.
Malik went on to reflect on how being in the band changed his life, saying that they started to gain a fanbase and he could see people paying attention to them. He now looks back on his time with One Direction in a “much fonder light”.
The former One Direction member is returning to music two years after his third solo album, ‘Nobody Is Listening’. He recently signed a new deal with Mercury Records and his single ‘Love Like This’ is set to be released later this month. Last year, Malik paid tribute to Jimi Hendrix on the musician’s 80th birthday with a cover of ‘Angel’.
Now Malik is back in the music scene, fans are eager to hear what he has in store.
