Haim, the sister trio from Los Angeles, have announced the reissue of their debut album ‘Days Are Gone’, a record that has stood the test of time and resonates with fans a decade later. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of this landmark release, the band reminisced with NME and shared their plans to headline All Points East 2023.

When the band released ‘Days Are Gone’ in 2013, it was an immediate hit. It quickly topped the UK charts and reached Number Two on the Billboard Top Alternative Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. It also earned a spot at Number Six on the Billboard 200 chart. Despite the success, the sisters never expected that kind of recognition.

In the years since the album’s release, the band’s sound has evolved. However, when they listen back to their debut, they recognize the charm of the homemade sounds. “Young Haim, we didn’t know what we were doing, but we learned a lot,” said Alana. “It was an adventure.”

The songs on the album have also taken on different meanings for the band members over the years. “A lot of the songs we’ve written when we were in our twenties mean something different to us now that we are in our thirties,” said Este.

The band has had several milestone moments in their career, many of which occurred in the UK. Alana recalls signing their album deal at a restaurant across the road from Camden music venue Dingwalls, and their first time hearing fans singing back the lyrics to ‘Forever’. “We were really shocked,” she said. “The Brits have taste.”

In 2022, the band sold out the O2 Arena in London, which Alana never thought possible when she was younger. The band is looking forward to returning to the UK to headline the All Points East festival. “We just want to play every song that they want to hear! They can yell out songs, and we’ll play it. We’re just so excited to play,” said Alana.

The band will also be hitting the road with Taylor Swift on the west coast leg of her ‘The Eras’ tour. “We did the ‘1989’ tour with Taylor, and it was the best tour to be on and now we get to do it again,” said Alana. “I mean, it’s a stadium tour! It’s crazy.”

The ‘Days Are Gone’ reissue is set for release on September 29 via Polydor Records. Pre-orders are now available, and you can find any remaining tickets for All Points East here. With the reissue of their debut and another exciting tour ahead, Haim is sure to continue making memories and delivering great music for years to come.
