Las Vegas police have seized hard drives, laptops, iPads, computers, an iPhone, and other items while investigating the 1996 murder of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur. The search was conducted in the same area where Shakur was gunned down in September 1996—at the home of Duane Keith Davis, the man who has said he was in the car with the shooter.

The warrant stated that police were looking for “notes, writings, ledgers, and other handwritten or typed documents concerning television shows, documentaries, YouTube episodes, book manuscripts, and movies concerning the murder of Tupac Shakur”. It was approved by Judge Jacqueline M. Bluth, who also authorized police to seize any items related to the Southside Crips, a Compton street gang.

Among the items seized were eleven .40-caliber cartridges, suspected marijuana, a copy of Davis’ book, a copy of documentary materials, two boxes of photos, and a Vibe Magazine featuring Shakur. Davis’ book, Compton Street Legend: Notorious Keffe D’s Street-Level Accounts of Tupac and Biggie Murders, Death Row Origins, Suge Knight, Puffy Combs, and Crooked Cops, details the rapper’s death from within the gunman’s car.

Tupac first rose to fame in 1991, with the release of his debut album ‘2Pacalypse Now’, and went on to sell 75 million records worldwide and gain chart success with hits such as ‘Hit ‘Em Up’, ‘California Love’, ‘Changes’ and ‘All Eyez On Me’. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017.

In other Tupac news, his biological father, Billy Garland, recently spoke out against the Hulu docu-series Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni & Tupac Shakur. He said he initially denied the director’s request for an interview because he didn’t like the series. Tupac’s sister has also responded to comments comparing Tupac to Donald Trump, describing the insinuations as “blasphemous”.

Police are still investigating the unsolved murder of Tupac Shakur, who changed the face of hip-hop with his thought-provoking lyrics and powerful performances. Over two decades after his death, the world continues to remember and honor his legacy.
