Rapper Drake has purchased an iconic ring belonging to the late Tupac Shakur at a Sotheby’s auction for an astonishing one million dollars. The ring, featuring gold, diamonds, and rubies, was worn by the rap legend in his last public appearance in 1996. It was estimated to fetch around two hundred thousand dollars, yet Drake ended up paying five times the amount for the item.
The exquisite piece of jewelry was designed by Tupac himself and was presented to him for his final public performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996. Drake recently shared a picture of the ring on his Instagram Story with a caption confirming the purchase.
In addition to his new acquisition, Drake has also announced a new album titled ‘For All The Dogs’, which is set to drop in a couple of weeks. At his ‘It’s All a Blur Tour’ show earlier this week in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, Drake shared the news with the crowd and spoke about his music aspirations. He said, “Every time I step in that booth, I hope I make you proud.”
Just last month, Drake had also released his poetry book Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, which further emphasizes his passion for music and the arts. Drake’s purchase of Tupac’s ring is sure to go down in history as one of the most remarkable purchases of all time.
