Tomorrow X Together (TXT) made history when they returned to Lollapalooza 2023 as the first ever Korean group to headline the iconic Chicago festival. The five-piece boyband had made their debut appearance at the Solana x Perry stage the previous year, and members Yeonjun, Soobin, Hueningkai, Beomgyu, and Taehyun reflected on their anxiety ahead of the performance.
In their Disney+ documentary ‘Our Last Summer’, Yeonjun expressed his worries that they weren’t “deserving” of the spot and that they might “ruin the vibe”. Speaking to NME backstage before their headline set, he spoke of how he had grown as an artist since then and was now more confident in his abilities to fit the stage.
The band also discussed performing with a live band for the second time, which they felt added a greater “liveliness” and “enrichment” to their songs.
TXT recently released a new single, ‘Do It Like That’, featuring the Jonas Brothers, who Hueningkai cites as his role models. The single was performed live for the first time at the festival, with special guest Coi Leray joining them for their track ‘Happy Fools’.
NME gave the band a five-star review for their set, praising their “tight and impactful” performances, “phenomenal” vocals, and “rockstar” stage presence.
The band has made history with their headlining performance at Lollapalooza 2023, and it’s clear that they will continue to reach new heights as they progress further into their career.
