R&B superstar Ne-Yo recently caused some controversy when he spoke out on his opinion regarding gender identity and parenting during an interview with VladTV. The artist, who is a father of seven, said that he personally came from an era of traditional gender roles, and was confused about children being able to identify as something other than what they were assigned at birth.
Ne-Yo later issued an apology, stating that he was an advocate for inclusivity in the LGBTQI+ community and admitted he needed to educate himself more on the topic. However, the singer recently went back on his apology, taking to Instagram to explain that he has a right to his own opinion and that he would never be okay with a child deciding their gender before they can drive a car.
The singer also clarified in his post that he had no beef with the LGBTQ+ community and that he would be educating himself more on the topic. Ne-Yo also added that he leads with love and supports everyone’s expression and pursuit of happiness.
