Poppy and Grimes have been feuding for years, and now Poppy’s former creative director has come out in support of the singer’s claims that Grimes bullied her into signing an NDA.
The drama started back in 2018 when Poppy spoke out against Grimes and her team regarding their collaboration on the song ‘Play Destroy’. Poppy said that Grimes had been preventing the song from coming out despite plans for its release months prior. She also claimed that Grimes had been “bullying songwriters into signing NDAs and not taking credit for songs that they were a part of.”
In response, Grimes accused Poppy of forcing her into a “disgusting situation.” This week, Grimes reignited the feud with a tweet that has since been deleted. She claimed that Poppy was spreading false information for personal gain.
In response, Poppy’s former creative director, Titanic Sinclair, posted a screenshot of the NDA onto his Instagram stories. He wrote: “@grimes I think bullying your ghostwriters into NDAs and never paying them is wrong.” He also added that Poppy was “telling the truth when it’s convenient.”
The two parted ways in 2019 with Poppy claiming that Sinclair had “glamorized suicide” and used her former friends “as his next experiment repeating manipulative patterns he has for years.”
Poppy is set to embark on a co-headlining North American summer tour with PVRIS. The tour will start in Seattle in August and will make its way to the east coast until mid-September.
Last week, Grimes showed her support for singer Lizzo after she was accused of sexual harassment by former backup dancers. Lizzo has since hired Marty Singer, the lawyer who has worked on recent cases against Jonah Hill, Johnny Depp, Bill Cosby and more. Grimes said: “I love Lizzo. I’ve only ever seen exemplary behavior from her, especially when everyone was hating on me and she was on top of the world.”
