Future Islands Release New Single ‘Deep In The Night’ & Announce Tour Dates

Baltimore-based alternative rock quartet Future Islands recently released their newest single, ‘Deep In The Night’, the first new music from the band since ‘King Of Sweden’ last year. The emotive single follows on from their sixth and latest studio album, ‘As Long As You Are’, which was released in 2020.

Frontman Samuel T Herring croons “I belong to you/ I belong to you/ When you take my hand, I understand/ Where you end and that’s where I began” during the chorus, backed by glistening synths and a steady, processed drum beat. An accompanying music video – directed and edited by Albert Birney – sees the band performing the song in silhouette.

The group, which also consists of Gerrit Welmers, William Cashion and Michael Lowry, will be performing at a variety of events including the Wider Than Pictures concert series in Dublin, Connect Festival in Edinburgh and End of the Road Festival in Dorset. Additionally, they will be supporting Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in Manchester and playing their own headline shows in Middlesbrough, Cambridge, Norwich and Wolverhampton.

‘As Long As You Are’ received a four-star review from NME, who called it “maybe an unexpected handbrake turn for Future Islands” and added that “it’s a refreshing record in its own right and one that throws up plenty of existential quandaries.”

Fans of Future Islands can listen to the new single now and look forward to more music from the band in the future.
