The beloved California duo, Tenacious D, have just released a recorded version of their highly popular cover of Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’. The song is the latest release from the pair, which consists of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, following the release of their single ‘Video Games’ last month.
The accompanying video for the track, directed by Taylor Stephens, features both Black and Gass playing in the water while dressed in their beachwear. The tribute video pays homage to the original video of the 1989 hit which features Isaak and model Helena Christensen.
The band’s recent single ‘Video Games’ is all about embracing adulthood and leaving childhood behind, but acknowledging the beauty of video games as an art form. The duo will be performing the song at The Game Awards concert in California on June 25th.
Tenacious D will also be bringing their live show to Europe, including their first show in the UK since 2019. Fans can find the full list of dates and purchase tickets here and here. The tour will kick off in Atlanta, Chesterfield, Kansas City and New Orleans in the Spring with artist pre-sale beginning now (password: SPICY). Public on-sale starts December 9th.
In addition to their music, Jack Black recently gained unexpected success with a song he performed as Bowser for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The song ‘Peaches’, which Bowser sings to Princess Peach, voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy, debuted on the chart with over 5.8million US streams and 6,000 downloads in its first week. The music video has since racked up over 18 million views.
